Why Is My Du'a For A Husband Not Being Answered?

    𝑸𝑼𝑬𝑺𝑻𝑰𝑶𝑵

Why does Allah not hear my prayers? I have been praying to Allah to send me the right man to marry for years now and I can’t help but start to think that my prayers are never going to be answered. I am 26 years old, I have a very good job (for which I am forever thankful to Allah) and feel that I am ready to complete the other half of my deen and start my own family. However, I am slowly starting to lose faith. I have been told many times that I am too picky and should just settle for anyone but I do not want to end up married to the wrong person or married just for the sake of being married. I want the right man, the man I ask Allah for. I want Allah to hear me.

    Praise be to Allah.

You must not lose hope, nor become impatient, and you must continue to pray and be proactive about finding someone. I am certain that the right man will come, by Allah’s grace.

I know that you have been patient, but I ask that you continue to be patient and wait for Allah’s plan to come to pass. The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace), told us, “The supplication of one of you is granted if he does not grow impatient and say-I supplicated my Lord but it was not granted.“ [Muslim]

Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger () as saying: “The supplication of the servant is granted in case he does not supplicate for sin or for severing the ties of blood”. (Sahih Muslim 2735 c)

    Allah says

{And when My slaves ask you (O Muhammad) concerning Me, then (answer them), I am indeed near (to them by My Knowledge). I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me (without any mediator or intercessor). So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright} (Surah: Al-Baqara: Verse 186)

The reason why supplication are not answered may be because someone has done something that Allah has forbidden, such as having haraam wealth whether it be food or drink or clothing or accommodation or transportation, or he has taken a haraam job, or the stain of sin is still in his heart, or he is following bidah (innovation) in religion, or his heart has been overtaken by negligence.

Narrated Abu Hurairah: that the Messenger of Allah () said: “O you people! Indeed Allah is Tayyib (good) and he does not accept but what is good. And indeed Allah ordered the believers with what He ordered the Messengers. He () said

O you Messengers! Eat of the good things and do righteous deeds. Verily I am well acquainted with what you do (Surah: Al-Muminoon, verse: 51)

    And He said

    يٰۤاَ يُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا کُلُوْا مِنْ طَيِّبٰتِ مَا رَزَقْنٰكُمْ

‘O you who believe! Eat from the good things We have provided you (Surah: Al-Baqara: Verse 172)

He said: “And he mentioned a man: ‘Who is undertaking a long journey, whose hair is disheveled and he is covered with dust. He raises his hands to the heavens and says: “O Lord! O Lord!” Yet his food is from the unlawful, his drink is from the unlawful, his clothing is from the unlawful, and he was nourished by the unlawful. So how can that be accepted?'” (Jami Tirmidhi: Vol. 5, Book 44, Hadith 2989)

A person must abandon what is prohibited by Allah, such that he does not eat what is forbidden, or consume usury, or wealth obtained through trickery or deception, and so on. The supplication of such a person is not accepted

A person should supplicate to Allah whilst being certain of a response, not just making an attempt to see if it works. Some people supplicate to try it out, to see if it will be accepted or not. This type of supplication is not accepted. Call upon Allah whilst you are certain that He, the Most High, will respond to you. And if you supplicate to Allah whilst you are doubtful, Allah will not accept such a supplication.

When supplicating to Allah for something that you want from Him, you must seek it from Him sincerely. Call upon Allah whilst you are aware of the fact that you are in need of Allah, and that He is free of any need of you, and He is fully able to give you what you seek from Him.

It is possible that you are picky, so you should really ask Allah to guide you to do what is right for you. It may be that a certain man is the perfect one for you, but you don’t see it because you cannot see beyond your conditions. I only say this because I know several couples who ended up marrying people that did not fulfill their conditions, but it didn’t matter, and they ended up very happy, anyway.

May Allah give you the best of this world and the next.
